Identity first security: making Zero Trust something you can show, not just say
Zero Trust is not a sticker you buy. It is how you wire systems so 'who can do what' is always a real question, not a slogan.
For most places today, identity is the fence. Strong login is table stakes. The wins come from cleaning up accounts over time, tightening admin paths, and making similar authorization choices across SaaS and cloud so people are not guessing.
Tell your board a story they recognize: fewer standing privileges, shorter lived credentials, smaller blast radius for break glass accounts, and devices that prove they are healthy before anyone touches crown jewel apps.
Measure what people feel. Who is covered, who has an exception and why, what changed last month. Security gets better when exception lists shrink on purpose instead of growing while nobody looks.
